My Pondering
When the Son of Man says the same thing twice, back to back, albeit slightly different, you can bank on it. And it’s ultra important.
Your truest treasure lies where your mind – heart – hands are most about.
What do you think about?
What do you dream about?
What do you do?
The Bible, God’s sovereign Word, is the closest thing we have on earth which tells the Kingdom of Heaven. How often do you think, dream and do what it says…daily, weekly, randomly, rarely or never?
The Holy Spirit, God’s presence here on earth, is available in varying levels with each of His believers. How often do you think, dream and do what He says…daily, weekly, randomly, rarely or never?
God has given us revelation in varying degrees. He has given us talents in varying degrees. He has given us time in varying degrees. Even our treasure (our money) varies. He is ultimately sovereign yet in all that and whatever else He so chooses for He is God. Again, He is God.
Yet, within His divine sovereignty He has carven out space for our free will, after all we were created in His image (see Genesis 1). With that, He expects us to respond appropriately.
Do we cherish His treasure?
Or do we ignore it?
Or do we disdain it?
In John 3:16 (amongst other places), we are told that God gave His best for us. He loves us ALL. The only way to claim our inheritance of the Kingdom of Heaven, is by responding in faith unto Jesus. You can NOT earn an inheritance. It’s granted by relationship alone. It’s impossible to earn that (salvation), as we are told.
In the two above passages highlighted, our example is that we should ardently seek the Kingdom. Once we discover our treasure, we should cherish it greatly and buy in fully and joyfully. Anything else would be utter foolishness…and be sure the devil is out to defile and deceive us.
Throughout Scripture, God call us to prosper and greatly invest in the Kingdom of Heaven by our thoughts (head), dreams (heart) and deeds (hands) by living out the Gospel message Jesus preached and led by example. These are the three H’s (head, heart and hands).
We also have the three T’s to maximize (time, talent and treasure). By being a good and trusting inheritor, we are promised greater rewards if we invest our God given time, talents and treasure well (the Parable of the Talents).
The Kingdom of God is something that exists both in the ‘here and now’ and more fully in our future forever home. There is a semblance of God’s kingdom here on earth and heaven as Jesus taught us to pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
Matthew 9:9b-13
The key component if that is this:
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Jesus lived ALL IN and went ALL OUT for ALL of us.
God no doubt want’s us to:
1. Claim our inheritance by faith in Jesus.
2. Cherish our treasure in by being ALL in and ALL out with our HHH.
3. Invest into Heaven by good use of our TTT here on earth.
Let’s Pray
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
Matthew 9:9b-13
…for Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever and ever! Amen.
