The Head

We are to use our faculties, our heads, to discern, grow and learn. To be wise and give an answer for all occasions.

If we don’t learn and discern, we put ourselves in jeopardy.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Since you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest.

Since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Hosea 4:6

God expects and demands us to apply. To learn foremost of spiritual things. Yes, we live in the New Covenant so grace does abound yet He is the same God who require our knowingly to participate, understand His Word and His creation which our abilities permit.

For we are created in His image. We are created wonderfully with amazing gifts. I hope this post I shared helps you as it did I.

Our brain, with its three pounds of squishy grey and white matter, contains nearly 100 billion neurons or microscopic nerve cells. Each neuron forms connections to other neurons, which in turn could lead to one quadrillion (1,000 trillion) connections. A piece of brain tissue the size of a grain of sand contains 100,000 neurons and 1 billion synapses. When a neuron is stimulated, it generates an electrical impulse that travels from cell to cell at a speed of 268 miles per hour. The brain has many times more nerve lines than all of the telephone lines in the world combined. The electrical signals from 200,000 living thermometer cells, half a million pressure sensing cells, and 3 to 4 million pain sensing cells, plus all the signals from the eyes, ears, nose, and taste buds are all routed to it, and it simultaneously keeps everything in our body working in ordered harmony.

Serving as a biological hard drive that runs cerebral software, the brain operates as the control center for the entire body—providing us with the capacity for thinking, reasoning, emotionalizing, memorizing, verbalizing, recalling, imagining, and creating. All the while, it autonomously controls and regulates all pulmonary, cardiovascular, pituitary, and digestive functions—without our conscious participation.

It has rightly been said that “The brain is the last and grandest biological frontier, the most complex thing we have yet discovered in our universe.”

I found all of the preceding information from multiple sources while doing research for a book I’m currently writing.

May this provoke all of us to lift our hearts and hands in praise to our Maker!

Not only are we humans wonderfully made, we Christians have access to the all knowing Godhead. Some may skim the infinite intelligence of God by practicing spiritual principles but we can a a bonafide personal relationship by knowing and experiencing God.

As we engage our head and heart, we can experience God fuller.

The Heart

We are to work and live with our heart / souls forward.

You can read a devotional about this verse here.

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:26 AMP

To fully engage our heart, our soul, our being and more fully engage and control our emotions, we need to connect our spirit to God’s Spirit. When we repent of our sin regularly as needed and believe and love God with ALL of our heart, soul, mind and strength God promises to make wonders happen as the above verse signifies.

Godfidence (Confidence in God) comes from being fully trusting and engaged on more than a knowledge level with God. Understanding truth is important and so is experiencing it. Let’s take a solid que from King David who spoke this and many similar sentiments:

My heart is steadfast, O God,

my heart is steadfast andconfident!

I will sing, yes, I will sing praises [to You]!

Psalm 57:7 AMP

My heart is steadfast, O God;

I will sing and make music with all my being.

Psalm 108:1

The words we speak and thoughts we think stem from our head and heart. Let’s make sure our thoughts are good and align our hearts.

Mary had heart and was blessed immensely. What a wonder she experienced.

God Himself stated David was a man after His own heart. Let’s emulate David: The good shepherd, mighty warrior, the soothing musician and steadfast servant of the LORD.

The Hands

Colossians 3:23 connects to our hands as well. Our work should then flow to action. Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge into situations. Achievement is doing it.

The hands are analogous to doing stuff, to work, to action.

God oftentimes prefers to work through people, His willing servants and sometimes even His wayward and enemies. He wants us to engage with doing by faith, not just by or sometimes despite our sight.

He is a God of action and doing. When he called Nehemiah to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem, it took resources, problem solving (head), commitment to the cause (heart) and certainly hands for the work. We sometimes need to multitask as described:

Those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens loaded themselves so that everyone worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other.

Nehemiah 4:17

God often refers to His strong right hand. Jesus Christ is there, at and as His right hand. When we are in accord with God’s will, there will be challenges as we shall be against the world but greater is He that is me than the world. Furthermore, this world is not our forever home. So as pilgrims, we are called use our whole being, including our helping hands to serve Him and others.

These three parts are connected in a trinitarian way. They each effect and affect one another: Head, Heart, Hand. One supports another. We are to use our Head to know what right, to guard our hearts and ultimately do what’s right, because it feels right because we know it’s right because God made it so.

Ultimately, it’s all about relationship internally and externally.
