My take: The chief reason I read the Bible is to hear the Lord speak. This passage spells that out distinctly. We see that the Lord does indeed speak to His saints yet He warns us not to return to our folly, our vomit, our dirty ways. It sure appears to me by this passage, by our free will, we can indeed walk away from God but where would one go for long?
Having a holy, healthy fear of God is essential to salvation. We read this time and time again across the Bible and in particular Proverbs and Psalms.
What a beautiful picture of love and faithfulness embrassing; righteousness and peace kiss. Faithfulness springs up to meet righteousness. This is God at work. By Jesus it is possible and His mission; Operation Gospel Salavation.
If we complemplate the parables that Jesus taught in line with this such as the ‘wheat among weeds’, ‘sower of seeds’ and ‘seperating the sheep from the goats’ it explains a lot but still mysterious.
As this Psalm implores:
“let them not turn back“
My prayer: Lord help me be ready for our ultimate meeting by Your rapture or my physical death. Keep me ready, willing and able for it is by Your power that I am saved and kept.
