“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” Psalms 20:7
My take: David is sharing a secret with us; that there is power, wonder working power, in the NAME of God. The name has power because who it represents and what or rather Who is behind it.
There are amazing accounts of God in action, like Gideon defeating some 100,000’s with a few hundred. David lived this even as a teen when he defended and called on the name of God when he crushed the forehead the giant soldier, Goliath. Yes, tools, resources and even stones have their purpose and usefulness but we should not have our core trust in something inatimate when a caring God is ready, willing and able. Lastly, we need to understand we live on the backside of the tapestry, as it is being sewn. We are inside the garmet of life. Until our bodies expire and we are turnee inside out, only then will we be able to see and appreciate all the God has done to and thru us, with a colorful blend of our free will.
My prayer: Lord, as your Word says, ‘Your ways are above my ways. Help me lean not unto my understanding but in all my ways…trust in You’.
