Pondering Scripture Hebrews 5:9 – Obedience required

“He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” – Hebrews 5:9

My take: What a story! Fiction for some; Faith for others. Yet as we are in the advent season approaching the day we celebrate the incarnation of God taking up physical residence here on earth amongst fallen angels and people, we have hope. A true everlasting hope.
By one man we all fell and by one we may all stand up and rise high.

In order to go from the written word to life eternal the Bible tells us we need; faith, repentance, belief and here in particular – obedience.

Melchisedec was a foreshadow of Jesus Christ. Our great High Priest to whom Abraham honored and gave to.

Of course none of us reading this can be perfect in the former, but Jesus was. And when we mix our faith with His perfection, that is sufficient….if we have the right intent to obey.

My prayer: Thank you Jesus for Your true sacrifice and obedience. Great High Preist, we celebrate You!

Jesus fulfilled all that the law required. His perfection is imputed to each true believer by faith. This saving faith leads to good works and obedience. Scripture clearly teaches we are saved by His grace and our faith, not by works so no one can boast.
