Pondering Proverbs 18:20 — 18:21

Pondering Proverbs 18:20 — 18:21
“From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied;
he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.”

My take: This is quite an interesting passage. There is power in words backed up by faith and belief. Thoughts influence emotions and emotions touch actions. Words, thoughts and emotions expressed, have a dynamic cause and effect. The writer here referring to ‘fruit’ as expressing good, choice and healthy language. Thinking and acting upon such results in satisfaction of tangible and untangible. Even death and life may be influenced by the power of our words. With that said, we still are governed by the principles established by God and His good and pleasing will.

Action words: from fruit of mouth, satisfied, power, eat fruit

My prayer: Lord, help me to thrive; focused on all that is good, true and pleasing to You.
