Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

  1. The bounds of created perfection may be defined, but those of God’s law in its nature, application, and influence, are infinite. There is no human thing so perfect but that something is wanting to it; its limits are narrow, whereas God’s law is of infinite breadth, reaching to all cases, perfectly meeting what each requires, and to all times (Ps 19:3, 6, 7-11; Ec 3:11). It cannot be cramped within any definitions of man’s dogmatical systems. Man never outgrows the Word. It does not shock the ignorant man with declared anticipations of discoveries which he had not yet made; while in it the man of science finds his newest discoveries by tacit anticipations provided for.

Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible
I will never forget thy precepts,…. Not the precepts of the moral law, though he carefully observed and attended to them, laid them up in his mind, and did not forget to keep them; but the doctrines of the word, of the word which the Lord commanded to a thousand generations; these he endeavoured to remember, and not let them slip from him,

My Pondering

Vastly deep and wide are God’s ways and words. Beautifully simple yet amazingly profound. They are like the Grand Canyon whose basin reaches a depth no man can conquer while he can thoroughly enjoy its immense color and richness while traveling through time. It is a friendly guide in a hostile land. Go your own way at a grave risk and sure peril.

There is power in the Word like no other book for the Bible is divinely inspired while cloaked to doubters and revealed to earnest seekers.

God Himself proclaimed David as a man after His own heart. What an amazing compliment. As we all know, David made some grievous errors but God forgave him. There is mighty hope us too. We are blessed if we delight in these psalms and thoughts and precepts recorded for our benefit.

Like all knowledge, its only active when applied. God requires that we trust Him and live by faith foremost, then by sight. Faith first. Love first. God first.

My prayer

LORD, empower my faith, enable my craving for You, and enlighten Your Word more and more
