Pondering Proverbs 3:9 — 3:10
“Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your produce;
then your barns will be filled with plenty,
and your vats will be bursting with wine.”
My take: Like Mary Kay, the super successful cosmetics founder who wears a small gold shovel on a neclace as reminder, ‘I give to God using a shovel and He gives back with a bull dozer’.
Quite the analogy that pairs up with this day 3, vs proverb 3 nicely. What a promise here! The bottom line is God has somehow set it up that givers gain. Yet, that is contrary to the innate, ‘MINE!’.
It reminds me of a favorite saying of Zig Ziglar, ‘You can get whatever you want as long as you help others get what they want first’.
Guess its time to get busy, starting with God and His kingdom.
Key verbs: Honor, filled and bursting.
My prayer: Good God, help me to be go-giver and do a better job of putting you 1st and foremost with my words and deeds.
