Evil upon the violent

Pondering Psalms 140:11
“Let not the slanderer be established in the land;
let evil hunt down the violent man speedily!”

My take: David was well acquainted with slanders, God haters, self indulgent and excessively violent men…as all people Cain on down.
Every generation has its good and bad. We can learn a lot from David. He was a well rounded, diligent man.

What does it take for evil to rise?
Good men and women to do nothing.
Like weeds, they grow high on their own.

Here we see David pleads for God to use evil against itself, “let evil hunt down the violent man speedily!”.

Don’t we see that happening in life sometimes? At some point God relinquishes and says, ‘Okay you stiff necked, you refuse Me and the rules I have established then have it your way…and they often break their own necks.” Is this not a true saying, ‘Give a man his own rope with plenty of slack. He will make it useful or hang himself with it’.

My prayer : LORD, guide me in Thy ways. I want to be eager to learn from You and apply it and share it. You coined the phrase, ‘Just do it’!

May the good overcome evil and evil wipe out itself.
